    Description

This is an 1857 Type 3 Indian Princess U.S. gold dollar minted at the historic Philadelphia Mint.
In the 1800's there was a large amount of gold coming out of California moving into the eastern United States.  With an abundance of gold available, the U.S. Mint decided to make gold coins for general circulation.  gold coins were made from 1849 to 1889.  In 1857 they were made at four U.S. Mint locations - Philadelphia, Charlotte, Dahlonega, and San Francisco.  These coins are 90% gold and 10% copper.  They are highly prized by collectors.
This particular coin is certified as genuine by PCGS and listed as About Uncirculated Details.  It has a "details" grade because it is described as "damaged" because it has some marks and small dents on it.  View the pictures to see the amazing shine and beauty of this gold coin.
The case is new and does not have any scratches.  It also includes the Gold Shield anti-theft and counterfeiting technology.
